The Silver Rose Prayer Program
Activity Report June 2, 2022
Introduction
The Silver Rose Prayer Program, which is a pilgrimage honouring Our Lady of Guadalupe, began its journey in Newfoundland and Labrador and on its way to the Shrine of Our lady, stopped in New Brunswick in May. At the request of the State deputy brother Gilles Pelletier, the State program Director planned, organized, and lead the State sponsored prayer program in New Brunswick. Since the Rose would be in province for only 20 days, it was decided to conduct the services at our four Diocesan Cathedrals and invite all Knights of Columbus Councils together with all parishioners to attend the service.
Without the concurrence of the four Bishops, as well as the assistance of Brothers Knights, this wonderful program would not have been possible. The State Deputy and a few of the Executive as well as the Vise-Supreme-Master of the Atlantic 4th Degree travelled to Amherst NS to attend their prayer Service and bring the Silver Rose to NB. The NB State concept was to travel the Rose to the 4 Dioceses where a designated Knight would be the Representative to the to Bishop of that Diocese. The concept worked quite well for our first effort, although the attendance could have been better. Several lessons were learned this year which will be studied to improve the program next year.
The State deputy thanks all members of the Knights who assisted the Program Director, namely the following Brothers: Deacon Armand T. Leblanc, Tony Benoit, Roger Arsenault, Alain Benoit, Alain Pelletier, Alain Morin, Jamie Whelly. A very special thank you to our 4 Bishops: Archbishop Valery Vienneau of the Moncton Diocese; Bishop Daniel Jodoin of the Bathurst Diocese; Bishop Claude Champagne of the Edmundston Diocese and Bishop Christian Riesbeck of the Saint John Diocese.
